Spiritual growth is a supernatural journey that involves developing a deeper connection and closer walk with God. It is an ongoing process of nurturing your soul and strengthening your faith in Christ. The ultimate goal of spiritual growth is to transform us to become like Jesus Christ. Whether you are a seasoned believer or someone seeking to explore spirituality, these seven steps will guide you on the path of spiritual growth, drawing inspiration from the timeless wisdom of the Bible. Before we begin to discuss the 7 steps to spiritual Growth, it's important for us to establish the fact that a child must first be born before the child begins to grow. In the same vein, salvation or the new birth precedes spiritual growth ( John 3:3-5). Until one has accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and personal saviour, his journey to spiritual growth has not begun. The 7 steps I am about to share with you in this post can only work after the new birth has taken place. With that being said, let's get started.
Step 1: Daily Reflection and Meditation
"Be still, and know that I am God." - Psalm 46:10
One of the Steps to Spiritual Growth is daily reflection and meditation. In our fast-paced lives, finding moments of stillness can be challenging. However, taking time each day to reflect and meditate on the things that matter to eternity is crucial for spiritual growth. Meditation allows you to connect with God in a deeper level and experience the divine presence of God like never before. Find a quiet place, free from distractions, and meditate on the word of God. prayer shouldn't be only a tool for asking God for material blessings, our meditation and prayer session should also be a time to ask God to change our hearts and make us to be like Him in character and behaviour. Meditation is not just a time to sit in silence, it's a time to ponder on our ways, search our soul and listen to the whispers of our soul and the voice of God. One of the crucial steps to spiritual growth is meditation. If you desire to have a successful Christian life, then Joshua 1:8 must become your daily routine.
Step 2: Cultivating Gratitude
"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Another Step to Spiritual Growth is Gratitude. Gratitude is a powerful attitude that fosters spiritual growth. Therefore, each day, make an effort to count your blessings and be thankful for what you have. Gratitude shifts your focus from what is lacking to what is abundant in your life. It opens your heart to appreciate the beauty around you and the countless gifts bestowed upon you by the benevolence of the almighty God. Prayer is good but prayer without a heart of gratitude will amount to frustration. It doesn't matter how many hours we spend in prayer daily, without a heart of gratitude, spiritual growth is impossible. Praise and thanksgiving are elements of gratitude. An atmosphere of praise is a spiritual fertiliser for spiritual growth. When people praise God, their lives become fertile for spiritual growth. Gratitude unlocks the showers of blessing and grace that make for growth to be released upon the people of God.
Step 3: Practicing Compassion and Forgiveness
"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." - Ephesians 4:32
Compassion and forgiveness are one of the steps to spiritual growth. Embrace empathy and kindness towards others who are going through trouble, it's a sign that you are growing spiritually. A living conscience that is touched by the problems others are going through is an indicator that your spirit man is alive and sensitive. Jesus left for us a pattern of compassion to follow. Release the burden of resentment and practice forgiveness, both towards others and yourself if you want to experience spiritual growth. Letting go of grudges and bitterness frees your spirit and allows you to experience inner peace with God and with yourself.
Step 4: Engage in Kingdom Service and Charity
"And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." - Hebrews 13:16
Giving to God and humanity and engaging in kingdom service are essential aspects of spiritual growth. Reach out to those in need, volunteer your time, or contribute to a cause close to your heart. Serving others not only brings joy to their lives but also nourishes your soul and strengthens your connection with the divine plan of God for your life. The world heavyweight champion was not born with big muscles, he developed his muscles by working out daily. In the same way, we grow our spiritual muscles by working with God and working for God. The more you dedicate your life to serving in God's vineyard, the more your spiritual growth becomes visible for all to see. No one can grow beyond his depth of commitment to Kingdom Service. If you are not a kingdom promoter, your spiritual growth will be difficult. Serving God is a vital step to spiritual growth ( Job 36:11 and Exodus 23:25-26)
Step 5: Studying the Bible and Anointed Christian Books
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." - Psalm 119:105

Step 6: Seeking Spiritual Community
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." - Matthew 18:20
Find a spiritual community or join a fellowship of like-minded Believers who share your beliefs. Engaging with others in prayer, worship, and meaningful discussions provides support and encouragement. It also gives you the opportunity to learn from diverse perspectives and grow together in faith and love.
Step 7: Embracing Surrender and Trust
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." - Proverbs 3:5
Finally, embrace surrender and trust in the divine plan. Accept that there are aspects of life beyond your control, and have faith that God is guiding you. Let go of worry and fear, knowing that you are held in the loving embrace of the almighty God. Surrendering to the divine will of God allows you to experience profound peace and spiritual growth.
